All inquiries into chartering a new chapter of the Confraternity of the Holy Name in the Province of St. Joseph are made to the promoter.

The process of becoming a chartered confraternity begins with a discussion. If the promoter ascertains that the motives and aspirations of the men are in alignment with the purpose of the Confraternity of the Holy Name, he will help the group enter into the novitiate phase. During this probationary year, the viability of the group is tested and the resolve of the men is strengthened.

If the promoter sees that the novice chapter is growing larger and stronger, and that the purpose of the men has matured and not wavered, he will request a charter for the new chapter.

To be a Confraternity of the Holy Name in truth, the group must have a letter of permission from the diocesan bishop and a charter from the Order of Preachers. Attaining these documents begins with contacting the promoter.
